CBSE Board Exam Timetable 2027 (Class 10, 12): Date Sheet PDF Download Status, Expected Dates, Reporting Time and Preparation Tips
Every October and November, millions of Class 10 and Class 12 students, parents and teachers refresh the CBSE website, waiting for one document: the board exam date sheet. The CBSE Board Exam Timetable 2027 decides how you plan the next four months, when you schedule your mock tests, and how you split your time between subjects. This guide brings together everything that is officially confirmed so far, what is only expected, and what you should do while you wait.
The most important fact first: as of 26 October 2026, the CBSE has not published the 2027 date sheet for Class 10 or Class 12 on its official website, and it has not announced an exact release date. Several websites and social media pages are already sharing "final" PDFs. Please treat those with caution, because a genuine date sheet appears only on cbse.gov.in and is shared by schools. We will update this article as soon as the board releases the real timetable.
On Gyani Adda we separate facts from guesses. In the sections below you will find last year's release pattern, the dates CBSE has already confirmed for the 2026-27 session, the new two-board-exam system for Class 10, a step-by-step download guide for the PDF, the exam-day reporting rules, and practical preparation tips for both classes.

CBSE Date Sheet 2027: Is It Out? Latest Update
At the time of writing, live trackers run by major education news portals still describe the 2027 date sheet as "awaited", with their latest updates dated 23 and 25 October 2026. A report on 15 October said the board was about to publish the schedule on cbse.gov.in with dates, timings, subjects and subject codes, but no release date was given. So, if you see a PDF claiming to be the "final CBSE Date Sheet 2027" today, check that it is hosted on the official domain before you trust it.
The delay should not worry anyone yet, because the board has followed a two-step routine in recent years. It first issues a tentative date sheet so that schools and students can plan, and then it issues the final date sheet after the List of Candidates (LOC) is complete. The LOC deadline for 2027 has only just ended, which is why many teachers believe the tentative schedule can arrive any day now.
What happened last year: the pattern to watch
For the 2026 board exams, CBSE released the tentative date sheet on 24 September 2025 and said the exams would begin on 17 February 2026. The final date sheet followed on 30 October 2025, around 110 days before the first paper. Class 10 papers ran from 17 February to 10 March 2026, while Class 12 papers ran from 17 February to 9 April 2026. Every paper started at 10:30 AM, and the board said it had avoided clashes across more than 40,000 subject combinations so that no student had two papers on the same day.
Using that history, a mid-February start for 2027 is a reasonable expectation, with Class 10 finishing in March and Class 12 stretching into early April. This is only an expectation based on past trends, and not an official announcement. The real dates may be earlier or later, and the board may also adjust them around entrance exams such as JEE Main, which CBSE has said it considers when preparing the schedule.
Confirmed Dates and Deadlines for the 2026-27 Session
While the main timetable is awaited, several dates have already been confirmed. The List of Candidates (LOC) submission by schools opened on 24 September 2026. Schools could submit student details until 21 October 2026 without a late fee. A late window ran from 22 to 30 October 2026, with a fee of 2,000 rupees per candidate, according to reports. The window for private candidate applications closed on 23 October 2026.
After the LOC, there is a correction window. CBSE has indicated that corrections to a candidate's name, parents' or guardians' names and date of birth can be made from 2 to 4 November 2026. Parents should check the data entered by the school carefully, because a spelling mistake in the LOC flows into the admit card and later into the marksheet and certificate.
Practical, project and internal assessment work has its own calendar. Reports say that practical exams for Class 12 in winter-bound schools are held in November and December 2026, while for other CBSE schools they usually begin in January 2027 and run into February. These dates are usually fixed by CBSE through a separate circular, so please follow your school's notice.
| Event | Date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| LOC submission opens | 24 Sep 2026 | Confirmed |
| LOC without late fee | Up to 21 Oct 2026 | Confirmed |
| LOC with late fee | 22 to 30 Oct 2026 | Confirmed (reports) |
| Private candidate applications | Closed 23 Oct 2026 | Confirmed (reports) |
| Data corrections | 2 to 4 Nov 2026 | Confirmed (reports) |
| Class 12 practicals (winter-bound schools) | Nov to Dec 2026 | Per reports |
| Practicals (other schools) | Jan to Feb 2027 | Expected |
| Theory exams | Feb to Apr 2027 | Expected, awaiting date sheet |
Class 10 Two Board Exams: How Phase 1 and Phase 2 Work
Since the 2025-26 session, Class 10 students have had two chances to take the board exam in one academic year, in line with the National Education Policy 2020. Phase 1 is the main exam, it is held in February and March, and it is compulsory for everyone. Phase 2 is optional and it is held after the Phase 1 results are declared, with May 2027 being the tentative window according to current reports. Its purpose is to let students improve their scores without losing a full year.
The most useful rule for students is that the better score counts. If you appear in Phase 2 and score higher in a subject, the higher marks are used for the final result. Reports say that a student can improve in up to three subjects in the second phase. For example, a student who is unhappy with Science and Mathematics can prepare specifically for those two papers in the weeks after Phase 1 results, rather than restarting everything.
This system changes how you should plan. Treat Phase 1 as the real exam and give it your full effort, because Phase 2 means extra stress during the summer and may clash with admission or coaching schedules. At the same time, knowing a safety net exists can reduce panic. Class 12 does not have this two-exam system for the 2027 session; its theory exams are held once, followed by supplementary exams for eligible students.
How to Download the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 PDF (Step by Step)
When the board publishes the timetable, you can download it in a minute if you follow the right route. Open your browser and type the official address, cbse.gov.in, yourself rather than clicking a link from a message. On the home page, look for the "Latest Updates" or "What's New" section, where the circular for the Class 10 and Class 12 date sheet for the 2027 examinations will appear. Click the link, and the PDF will open or download. Save it on your phone and also take a printout for your study table.
- Visit the official website. Type cbse.gov.in directly in the address bar.
- Open Latest Updates. Look for "Date Sheet for Class X and XII Examinations 2027".
- Choose your class. Class 10 and Class 12 sheets may be separate files.
- Download the PDF. Check the title, the exam year and the CBSE logo on the first page.
- Find your subjects. Match each subject name with its subject code, since some subjects have different codes.
- Note date, day and timing. Write them on a wall calendar and share them with your parents.
- Confirm with school. Your school will also circulate the schedule and any local instructions.
If the PDF does not load because of heavy traffic, try again after a short while, or check the same circular on your school's official page. Avoid downloading apps that promise "early access" to the date sheet, because they often collect personal data or show advertisements.
CBSE Exam Reporting Time and Exam-Day Rules
Many students lose marks, or even an entire paper, simply because they reach the centre late. The details below are based on the board's exam-day advisory for the 2026 examinations as reported by education portals, and they are likely to remain similar in 2027. Please confirm them against the 2027 circular and the instructions on your admit card.
For the 2026 exams, students were allowed to enter the exam centre from 9:00 AM, and the gates closed at 10:00 AM. The Controller of Examinations was quoted as saying that no student would be permitted to enter beyond that cut-off. The question paper was distributed at 10:15 AM, followed by 15 minutes of reading time, and writing began at 10:30 AM. In other words, if your paper starts at 10:30 AM, you should plan to reach the centre by 9:30 AM, and travel with a margin for traffic and weather.
| Time (as in 2026) | What happens |
|---|---|
| 9:00 AM | Entry to the exam centre begins |
| 10:00 AM | Entry gate closes (cut-off) |
| 10:15 AM | Question paper distributed, reading time starts |
| 10:30 AM | Writing begins |
| Strictly as per duration | Paper ends; most papers run about three hours |
What to carry and what to leave at home
Carry your original CBSE admit card and a valid school identity card. Regular students wear the school uniform, while private candidates are expected to wear light and simple clothing. A transparent pouch with blue or royal blue ballpoint pens, pencils, an eraser and basic geometry instruments is allowed. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices and any printed or handwritten material, including small slips of paper, are not allowed. Bringing a banned item can lead to an unfair-means case, even if you never use it, so leave such things at home.
Students with disabilities are entitled to extra time and facilities according to CBSE norms, and schools must apply for these in advance. If you or your child needs such support, speak to the school coordinator well before the exams.
Passing marks, attendance and pre-boards
To pass, a student needs at least 33 per cent in each subject, counting theory and practical separately where a subject has a practical component. CBSE also expects at least 75 per cent attendance for eligibility. Reports quoting the board say that pre-board exam marks are internal to the school and will not count toward the final board result, but pre-boards remain the best rehearsal you will get, so take them seriously.
CBSE Board Exam Preparation Tips for 2027
A date sheet changes the mood of the classroom. Until then, preparation feels distant; once the dates are fixed, the countdown begins. The students who do well are rarely the ones who study for the longest hours. They are the ones who follow a simple, repeatable plan and who revise more than once. The tips below work for both Class 10 and Class 12, with small differences that we explain along the way.
Start with the syllabus and the exam pattern
Download the latest syllabus and the sample papers for 2026-27 from the official academic website, cbseacademic.nic.in. The syllabus tells you which chapters are deleted or added, how marks are split between units, and how internal assessment is calculated. Many students waste weeks on topics that are no longer in the syllabus. Sample papers show the current pattern, including the share of competency-based and case-study questions, which have become common in recent years (please check the exact weightage in the official sample paper of your subject).
Make a timetable that respects your weak subjects
Write down all your subjects and rate each as strong, average or weak. Give the weak and high-weightage chapters the best hours of your day, usually the morning, and keep the strong subjects for revision slots. A realistic plan has two or three subjects per day, short breaks every 45 to 50 minutes, and one fixed revision day per week. When the official date sheet arrives, only adjust the final fortnight, so that the subject with the biggest gap before the exam gets deeper revision.
Use NCERT first, then practice
For nearly all subjects, the NCERT textbook is the base of the board paper. Read each chapter, underline definitions and formulas, and solve every example and exercise. After that, practise with previous years' papers and sample papers under a timer. Solve the full paper in three hours, check your answers against the marking scheme, and note the mistakes in a separate notebook. In Mathematics and Science, regular numerical practice matters more than reading. In Social Science, maps, dates and flowcharts help. In languages, practise writing formats and grammar items every week.
Class 12 specific advice
Class 12 students often balance boards with entrance exams such as JEE, NEET and CUET. Do not treat them as two separate lives. Board preparation based on NCERT strengthens the entrance base too. Fix a rule such as boards in the morning and entrance practice in the evening, and reduce the entrance load as the board dates come near. Keep a close watch on the practical exam dates, because the marks of practicals and projects directly add to your final score and are easy to secure with regular lab records.
Class 10 specific advice
Class 10 students should aim for clear concepts in Mathematics and Science, since these shape the stream choice in Class 11. Because of the two-phase system, treat Phase 1 as your main attempt. After the results, if you want to improve, analyse the answer pattern of your weakest subjects instead of repeating the same study method. Language papers and Social Science reward neat presentation, so practise writing complete answers within the word limit.
Take care of sleep, food and mind
Sleep for seven to eight hours, drink enough water, and do some physical activity each day. Avoid late-night cramming before an exam, because memory works poorly when you are tired. If you feel anxious, talk to a parent, teacher or counsellor. CBSE and many schools run counselling helplines during the exam season, and asking for help is a sign of strength.
Month-wise study plan from now to the exams
| Period | Focus |
|---|---|
| Late Oct to Nov 2026 | Complete the syllabus, fix weak chapters, finish NCERT reading |
| Dec 2026 | First full revision, chapter-wise tests, practical files and projects |
| Jan 2027 | Sample papers, previous years' papers, pre-boards, practical exams |
| Feb 2027 | Final revision as per the date sheet, formulas, maps, diagrams, daily mock timing |
| Exam period | Light revision of the next paper only, early sleep, check admit card and pouch |
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not wait for the date sheet to start studying, because the exams are only a few months away whatever the dates are. Do not change books or coaching notes every week. Do not skip the practical file and project work, and do not leave presentation for the last moment. Do not rely on guess papers or leaked papers shared on social media, since such claims are almost always false and can lead to serious action. Finally, do not compare your progress with classmates, because everyone has a different starting point.

Q2. When will the CBSE date sheet 2027 be released?
There is no official date. Last year, CBSE issued the tentative date sheet on 24 September 2025 and the final one on 30 October 2025. Because the 2027 LOC window has only just closed, the schedule is widely expected soon, but this is an expectation and not an announcement.
Q3. When will the CBSE board exams 2027 start?
Exams are expected to begin in mid-February 2027, as in 2026 when they started on 17 February. Class 10 is likely to finish in March and Class 12 in early April. Wait for the official date sheet for exact dates.
Q4. What is the reporting time for CBSE board exams?
In 2026, entry started at 9:00 AM, the gate closed at 10:00 AM, papers were handed out at 10:15 AM with 15 minutes of reading time, and writing began at 10:30 AM. Check the 2027 circular and your admit card for the final timings.
Q5. How does the Class 10 two-exam system work?

Conclusion
The CBSE Board Exam Timetable 2027 for Class 10 and Class 12 has not been officially released yet, but the picture is fairly clear. The LOC and private candidate deadlines have passed, the correction window is days away, and the pattern of the last year suggests a mid-February start with the final schedule arriving in the coming weeks.
