🧪 Hormones in Animals – Hormonal Coordination
1. Hormones क्या हैं? | What are Hormones?
Hormones = Chemical Messengers

2. Endocrine Glands |
| Gland | Main Hormone | Main Function |
|---|---|---|
| Pituitary | Growth Hormone | Growth and control of other endocrine glands |
| Thyroid | Thyroxine | Controls metabolism |
| Adrenal | Adrenaline | Emergency / Fight or Flight response |
| Pancreas | Insulin | Controls blood glucose level |
| Testes | Testosterone | Male secondary sexual characters |
| Ovaries | Estrogen, Progesterone | Female reproductive functions |
3. Major Endocrine Glands – Animated Diagram
Animated: glowing points endocrine glands
4. Pituitary Gland |
5. Thyroid Gland and Thyroxine
6. Adrenal Gland and Adrenaline
Adrenal glands kidneys
| Effect of Adrenaline | Result |
|---|---|
| Heart rate increases | More blood reaches muscles |
| Breathing rate increases | More oxygen available |
| Blood flow changes | Muscles become ready for action |
| Blood glucose availability increases | More energy for emergency |
Fight or Flight Response:
7. Pancreas and Insulin
Insulin
- Blood glucose level
- Blood glucose
8. Testes and Testosterone
- Facial and body hair का development
- Voice
- Muscle development
- Male reproductive organs का maturation
- Sperm formation
9. Ovaries and Female Hormones
Ovaries female reproductive organs
| Hormone | Main Role |
|---|---|
| Estrogen | Female secondary sexual characteristics तथा reproductive development |
10. Hormonal Coordination
Stimulus → Endocrine Gland → Hormone → Blood → Target Organ → Response
Stimulus → Endocrine Gland → Hormone → Blood → Target Organ → Response
Stimulus → Gland → Hormone → Blood → Target Tissue → Response
11. Nervous Control vs Hormonal Control
| Feature | Nervous Control | Hormonal Control |
|---|---|---|
| Messenger | Electrical impulses + neurotransmitters | Chemical hormones |
| Transport | Nerves | Blood |
| Speed | Generally very fast | Generally slower |
| Effect | Usually short-lived and localized | Often longer-lasting and broader |
| Example | Reflex action | Growth |
12. Feedback Mechanism
Negative Feedback:
13. Important Hormones – Quick Revision
